2 Sisters Food Group has applied to increase the processing capacity of its Sandycroft poultry plant in Flintshire, Wales.
The company has submitted an application to Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to vary the site’s existing environmental permit.
If approved, the variation would allow the plant to increase throughput from 134,000 birds per day to 172,000 birds per day – an increase of around 28%.
The application would also enable the site to operate seven days a week, compared with the current six-day operation.
In addition, 2 Sisters is seeking permission for a chiller unit that has already been installed at the site, replacing the previous unit.
Natural Resources Wales has launched a four-week public consultation on the application. The application documents are available through NRW’s online public register, with responses invited during the four-week consultation period.
