More than 130 poultry industry professionals from across the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands attended the annual Cobb Europe Charity Clay Shoot in Suffolk on 10 June, raising more than £8,000 for The Country Trust.
Now in its 11th year, the event has become a regular fixture on the poultry industry calendar, bringing together customers, suppliers and colleagues for networking, competition and fundraising. Since it began in 2015, the charity shoot has raised more than £105,500 for a range of charities, including Air Ambulance, Papworth Hospital, the Stroke Association and, this year, The Country Trust.
The Country Trust helps children from disadvantaged backgrounds connect with farming, food and the countryside through hands-on learning experiences.
Alongside the clay shooting competition, additional funds were raised through sponsorship, raffle prizes and Heads & Tails competitions.
Billy Crane claimed the Steve Graham Top Shot Award with a score of 80, while Traditional Norfolk Poultry won the team competition with 156 points, ahead of P D Hook Hatcheries and C E Davidson.
Sarah Scott, EMEA marketing manager at Cobb, thanked attendees, sponsors and prize donors for their support, saying the industry’s generosity had helped make the event another success.
