The International Poultry Welfare Alliance (IPWA) and the International Egg Foundation (IEF) have announced a new partnership at the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) aimed at strengthening poultry welfare training and practical support for producers in regions facing nutrition and food security challenges.
Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), IPWA will provide IEF with access to its science-based Key Welfare Indicator (KWI) Guides, member scientific expertise, and aligned tools. IEF will apply these resources in the field and share feedback from farmers, trainers, and local partners to help ensure the materials meet real-world needs across diverse production environments.
“IEF is focused on delivering practical solutions that strengthen egg production and nutrition outcomes in vulnerable regions,” said Bruce Dooyema, IEF Chairman. “Through our partnership with IPWA, we can apply proven welfare tools in the field while contributing farmer-led insights that help ensure guidance reflects real-world conditions.”
IPWA leaders said the collaboration will strengthen the organisation’s ability to refine its global welfare guidance.
“We are honoured to support IEF’s mission and to learn from the regions where these tools matter most,” said Katy Tarrant, Chair of IPWA. “This feedback-driven approach helps ensure our KWI Guides remain relevant, adaptable, and effective for producers around the world.”
The partnership includes ongoing coordination between the organisations to assess field outcomes and identify opportunities to tailor welfare training and science-based resources to improve poultry welfare globally.
