Cobb-Vantress, has introduced a new broiler breeder, the Cobb800, developed for poultry operations focused on high-yield and large-scale production.
According to the company, the Cobb800 was developed through long-term genetic selection and has undergone extensive commercial-scale testing. Cobb says the breeder is intended to support improvements in meat yield, bird livability and hatchability across a range of production systems.
Company officials said the Cobb800 is being added to the existing Cobb product lineup. The Cobb500, which is widely used in small-bird markets, will remain in production and continue to be supported.
“The Cobb800 expands our offering into a segment that requires a specialised high-yield breeder,” said Shelby Watkins, president of Cobb-Vantress.
The company reported that the Cobb800 has been evaluated in multiple regions and under varying management and nutrition programs. Cobb said the testing was designed to measure performance under commercial production conditions.
Cobb officials said development of the Cobb800 occurred alongside continued selection work on existing breeding lines, including the Cobb500.
