A Suffolk duck farm has received a clean bill of health over a suspected avian flu outbreak.

According to a government update this week, following suspected HPAI in commercial rearing ducks at a premises near Woodbridge, East Suffolk, further official testing took place at the national reference laboratory at APHA Weybridge.

Those tests concluded that notifiable AI is no longer suspected at the premises.

Culling activity is no longer required at the premises for AI disease control purposes, and the 3km and 10km Temporary Control Zones around the site were revoked on 10 August, Defra and APHA said.

In a further update, on 9 August the chief veterinary officer for Wales confirmed a case of H5N3 low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) affecting a gamebird premises near Dulas, Ynys Mon.

A 1km Temporary Control Zone was put in place around the infected premises 8 August 2025, with the Welsh Government due to release further information on the outcome of investigations shortly.

In related news, on 15 August Defra and APHA said that due to a change in the pattern of wild bird findings and an increase in cases in poultry and captive birds, the risk of HPAI in poultry with sub-optimal biosecurity has been increased to medium, meaning ‘event occurs regularly’.
