Salmonella was detected in 46 adult laying flocks in Great Britain during 2025, with 16 testing positive for serovars covered by the national control programme (NCP).
The figures are reported in the Animal and Plant Health Agency’s annual Salmonella in animals and feed in Great Britain 2025 report, published on 2 October 2026.
The 46 flocks testing positive for Salmonella represented an estimated prevalence of 1.23%, compared with 0.89% in 2024, when 33 flocks tested positive.
Of the 46 positive flocks in 2025, 10 tested positive for Salmonella Enteritidis and six for S. Typhimurium, giving a combined prevalence of regulated serovars of 0.43%. This was below the statutory target of 2% for adult laying flocks.
The annual report provides surveillance data for England, Scotland and Wales.
