Total UK poultry meat production dropped to 158,500 tonnes in June, according to the latest Defra figures.
This is down from 163,900 tonnes in May.
Despite this temporary dip, total production was still 0.6% higher than the same month last year.
Broiler meat production totalled 152,000 tonnes, up by 1.6% year-on-year.
Poultry processing volumes in June were down on the month and compared with June last year.
The number of broiler birds slaughtered dropped by .02% on the year to total 92m birds, while boiling fowl slaughterings declined by 9.2% to 2.2m birds.
Average liveweights per bird at point of slaughter in England and Wales held at 2.4kg.
Turkey production fell by 20% year-on-year to 3,900 tonnes.
Chick Placings
Broiler chick placings, which accounted for the vast majority of chick placings, declined by 2.4% on the year in June to total 95 million chicks.
Meanwhile commercial layer chick placings lifted to 3.9 million chicks, an increase of 21% on the year.
Turkey placings held at roughly 800,000 placings, while broiler breeder placings stood at 500,000 chicks.
Egg prices and production
Farmgate egg prices in the UK averaged 148.5 pence per dozen during the second quarter of 2025, representing a 3.4% increase on the same quarter last year.
UK egg production for human consumption totalled 264 million dozen eggs during the quarter, which is 2.4% higher than the first quarter of 2025 and up 5.7% year-on-year.
In total, egg production reached 15,000 tonnes in the second quarter of 2025, down by 1.4% from the previous quarter and 6.3% compared to the same period in 2024.
