2 Sisters Food Group owner Ranjit Singh Boparan has raised £140,000 for four charities running the London marathon.
First-time entrant Boparan completed the course in the face of rising temperatures in London on the day, and has raised the substantial amount thanks to the generosity of friends, colleagues, customers and suppliers.
The money raised will be split between four charities close to his heart:
- British Heart Foundation: Fighting heart disease and funding life-saving research.
- The Boparan Charitable Trust: Supporting children with disabilities, life-limiting conditions, and those in extreme poverty.
- Martins Hospice: Providing compassionate end-of-life care and support for families.
- Assist Resettlement & Renaissance: Aiming to relieve poverty among innocent victims of war in Sri Lanka by improving their livelihoods.
Boparan said: “This was my first full marathon and the challenge was not just about crossing the finish line, it was about making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Every donation, big or small, will help these charities continue their vital work.
“I’d like to thank everybody for supporting me, it really helped to spur me on.
“It was really warm on the day and it was a very tough course, but I was determined to see it through.”
