Defra has strengthened biosecurity rules under the Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) following a recent increase in cases among poultry as the game season begins.
From 26 August, game bird rearers and shoot operators will face additional mandatory measures, including cleansing and disinfecting vehicles and footwear; reporting and collecting dead birds near release pens; preventing wild birds from accessing feeders and drinkers.
The updated measures aim to curb the spread of avian influenza as surveillance indicates growing infection pressure.
