EU broilers have been trading at 290 eurocents a kg towards the end of last year and into January.
Prices are still up considerably on year earlier levels and the five year average but do appear to have stabilised.
Broiler prices in the US rallied toward the of 2025, but have dipped back in January, averaging the equivalent to 225 eurocents a kg for the week ending 28 January.
Broiler prices in the US had started 2024 at a premium to prices in the EU but are now trading at a discount of roughly 65 eurocents a kg.
Broiler prices in Brazil have also dropped back and averaged 117 eurocents a kg.
EU broiler meat production lifted marginally again during December compared with month earlier levels but remained below 2024 volumes.
EU poultry meat exports totalled 1.58m tonnes during the first nine months of 2025, down by 0.8% on the previous year.
Eggs
EU egg prices eased back in the first few weeks of the year but remain high by historic standards.
Egg prices averaged 283 eurocents a kg in late January, having approached 300 eurocents a kg in December.
Prices are currently up by 19% on year earlier levels but down 4% on the previous month.
Prices in the US have dropped dramatically and after trading at roughly 241 eurocents a kg in December have fallen to the equivalent of 116 eurocents a kg, only marginally above prices in Brazil.
Placings of laying hens in the EU dropped back during October.
French, Germany, and Spain continued to be the major players in EU egg production, each accounting for roughly 15% of total EU production respectively.
