Cobb Europe has reported a big increase in turnover in its latest annual report.
The broiler genetics company, based in Essex, reported turnover for the year ending 28 September 2024 up 50% to £26.8 million, returning to pre-2023 levels when the industry was severely affected by avian influenza.
The company returned to a gross profit during the year of £441k, but made a pre-tax loss of £2.97 million. This is an improvement on last year, when the pre-tax loss was £9.34 million on turnover of £17.9 million.
The company’s principle activities are the hatching and distribution of breeding stock. The company’s base in the UK is its European head of research and development and has undergone significant investment in recent years. The directors said future investment in R&D would continue to be made in order to meet the needs of the market.
