Following the recent increase in cases and severity of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza with housing of flocks in some parts, egg producers are being allowed to temporarily move Lion Code audits conducted by NSF on sites where live birds are kept to remote livestream audits with immediate effect.
The British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) said NSF had developed a system for remote audits which still ensure producers receive a robust audit remotely via a full livestream on WhatsApp video call.
Producers’ assessors will contact them to arrange the audit as normal. The NSF assessor will then send a confirmation letter clearly stating how to prepare for the audit and what NSF will need to see.
