The Food Standards Agency has updated its list of products affected by Dutch eggs contaminated with the insecticide Fipronil, and has named eight further products being withdrawn from the market.
The new products are
Domsons Carrot Cake Mix, Lot No 17132 12.5 kg Best before: 29/01/2018;
Carrot Cake Mix, Lot No 17134 12.5 kg Best Before: 29/04/2018;
General Purpose Cake Mix MB*, Lot No 17140 12.5 kg Best Before: 30/04/2018
Bako Sponge Mix MB*, Lot No 17168 12.5 kg Best Before: 01/04/2018
Bako Sponge Mix MB*, Lot No 17170 12.5 kg Best Before: 01/04/2018
Toffee Cake Mix MB*, Lot No 17222 12.5 kg Best Before: 29/04/2018 CdF MNB*
Crème Cake Muffin 1001378, Lot 17604 12.5 kg Best Before: 08/05/2018
Madeira Cake Mix, Lot No 16761 12.5 kg Best Before: 26/04/2018
The FSA said these products are all cake mixes that are used in the catering trade.

Products must be removed from sale if the amount of implicated egg is more than 15% of the final product, the FSA said. Food businesses must comply with this or show that the egg ingredient used is compliant with the EU maximum residue level.

It remains very unlikely that there is any risk to public health, but as Fipronil is not authorised for use in food producing animals we continue to track down implicated food products and ensure that they are removed from sale where they breach the limit.

As a precaution, UK-laid eggs are being tested for the presence of Fipronil, and all results so far have been clear. Investigations are ongoing, said the FSA.
