Ross customers recognised with award for productivity

Staff from Eagles Pride hatchery and Westwood poultry farm in South Africa have been rewarded for achieving exceptionally high numbers of chicks born to their hens.

Both businesses are customers of Aviagen and use Ross 308 stock. Ross Poultry Breeders is the Ross distributor in South Africa and has awarded Eagles Pride and Westwood with membership to its ‘150 Club’, which recognises those who achieve over 150 chicks per hen housed from their Ross 308 flocks.

They each received a certificate as acknowledgment of their hard work and dedication at a celebratory ceremony.

Robert Haggarty, senior technical manager Aviagen, who services the Ross brand in Turkey, the Middle East & Africa, said: “There are now an increasing number of Ross Clubs around the globe inspiring Ross customers to achieve excellent results at both breeder and broiler levels. In South Africa we wanted to open the opportunity for Ross 308 parent stock customers to attain the same target as some of the highest-achieving customers globally, so the 150 Club was born. To reach this level is not easy; however, with the right support from the RPB distributor team and a lot of hard work by the customer, it is possible not just to meet, but to exceed the performance objectives of the Ross 308 bird.”

Robert Roszkopf, senior operations manager Aviagen South Africa, added: “The 150 Club was introduced to acknowledge and reward our South African customers who reach a high level of productivity, which directly impacts the bottom line of the business. It is important to run at maximum efficiency when local feed prices are high and operating margins are reduced. It’s great to see that performance is at such a high level and consistently improving.”
