Nominations can now be submitted by NFU members wishing to sit on the national poultry board and represent their sector and region.  The national poultry board’s remit is to formulate NFU policy for the poultry sector and represent the interests of NFU poultry members, covering both the meat and egg sector.

The work of the national poultry board covers the length and breadth of issues affecting the poultry sector and those who are currently involved find it a worthwhile and rewarding experience.  So if you have a passion for the poultry sector and want to help shape the future for the industry this could be the role for you.

The responsibilities

We are looking for keen individuals to contribute to the work of the national board and really make a difference for their sector.   As a board member you will be given responsibility for certain work areas and will be expected to communicate with other NFU poultry members in your region, facilitating the transfer of information from regional poultry boards and forums up to the national board and vice versa.

The national board meets six times a year and members receive an annual honorarium which is paid monthly.  Board members are elected for a two year period after which time they may stand down or stand again for re-election.

The Nomination Process

  • NFU members who would like to be considered for a place on the national poultry board are required to submit a nomination form

  • This must be signed by eight supporting NFU members (please note these members can be from any region and/or sector)

  • Completed nomination forms must be submitted by 12 February 2018

The Selection Process

Members of the poultry board are selected via a competitive process which will take into account both regional and sector representation on the board.  Nominations will go to a selection panel consisting of an NFU office holder, the Chief Poultry Adviser and an industry representative. The new board will then sit for the first time on the 28th of March 2018, where the new Chair and Vice Chair will be elected.

A copy of the nomination form can be found here

The completed nomination form must be returned no later than the 12th of February 2018 to Gary Ford, Chief Poultry Adviser via email: gary.ford@nfu.org.uk or by post: NFU Chief Poultry Adviser, Agriculture House, Stoneleigh Park. Stoneleigh, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 2TZ
