Young people working or studying in the UK poultry industry are being encouraged to apply for a fully funded place at this year’s Egg & Poultry Industry Conference (EPIC) through the conference’s Young Poultry Person Initiative (YPPI).
The initiative has been established to help the next generation of industry professionals experience one of the UK’s leading poultry events, while building knowledge, contacts and confidence within the sector.
The scheme is open to first-time EPIC attendees who are currently employed in, or studying towards a career in, the UK poultry industry. It is aimed at those under the age of 40.
With the support of EPIC’s sponsors, successful applicants will receive a fully funded place at EPIC 2026, including conference registration, two nights’ accommodation and attendance at the conference’s social events, including both conference dinners. Applicants are responsible only for their travel to and from the conference.
Taking place at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, EPIC brings together producers, processors, veterinarians, nutritionists, suppliers and industry leaders to discuss the latest technical, commercial and political issues affecting the UK egg and poultry sectors.
Howard Birley, on behalf of the EPIC organising committee, said: “The future of our industry depends on attracting, developing and supporting talented young people. Through the Young Poultry Person Initiative, we want to give those at the beginning of their careers the opportunity to experience EPIC, hear from leading speakers, meet people from across the supply chain and become part of the industry’s future.”
He added: “Many previous recipients have gone on to build successful careers within the poultry sector, and we would encourage anyone who meets the criteria to apply.”
Applications for the Young Poultry Person Initiative are now open until 1 September.
Further information, eligibility criteria and the application form are available via the EPIC website.
