British Poultry Training (BPT) has introduced an ‘Assessment First Route’ for experienced poultry workers seeking the City & Guilds Diploma in Work-Based Agriculture (Poultry Production).
The route allows workers with the prerequisite knowledge and skills to achieve certification through assessment alone, without attending additional training.
The diploma, or an equivalent qualification, is required for staff in Level 2 stockperson/multi-skilled operative and Level 3 assistant manager/manager roles under the Poultry Passport Scheme.
BPT said the new route had been developed to reduce the time and cost of certification for experienced poultry keepers who can already demonstrate the required competence, including those with Grandfather Rights relating to training requirements.
The Poultry Passport Scheme promotes welfare, safety and traceability through structured professional development. BPT, a partnership between the BPC, NFU, Lantra and Poultec Training, provides governance for the scheme.
The qualification is available through City & Guilds-approved centres. Details of providers are available from City and Guilds.
