Powys County Council has issued an enforcement notice requiring the removal of two poultry sheds that were constructed without planning permission near Penybont.
The enforcement action follows an investigation by the council’s planning officers, which found that the development had been carried out without the necessary planning consent.
The council said planning regulations are intended to ensure that the potential impacts of developments on local communities, the rural landscape, biodiversity, highways and neighbouring properties are properly assessed before construction takes place.
It added that where development takes place without the required permission, the council has a responsibility to investigate and, where appropriate, take formal enforcement action.
Councillor Richard Church, Cabinet Member for Legal and Regulatory Services, said planning rules were in place to ensure the impact of development was properly considered before work began.
“When those rules are not followed, the council has a responsibility to act,” he said. “This enforcement notice reflects our commitment to protecting our communities, countryside and the integrity of the planning system.”
Powys County Council is encouraging anyone considering development to contact its Planning Service through its pre-application enquiry service to establish whether planning permission is required before work begins.
