EU broiler prices have lifted by 1.3% in the past month and stood at 293.75 eurocents a kg in late February.

Prices remain below the peak of last summer but have started to show signs of recovery and some positive uplift after falling towards the end of last year.

Broiler prices in the US have been volatile and dipped to the equivalent to 222 eurocents a kg for the week ending 25 February.

This puts EU broiler prices at an extended premium of more than 70 eurocents a kg above prices in the US.

Meanwhile in Brazil, prices have started to turn a corner after falling during January and averaged 119 eurocents a kg towards the end of February.

EU broiler meat production surged during February and approached 1m tonnes of poultry meat.

The EU commission has forecast production at its highest levels for several years.

EU poultry meat exports between January and November 2025 1.9m tonnes, a fall of 1.3% on year earlier levels.

Eggs

EU egg prices also started to recover during February and recouped some of the losses of the previous month.

The average price of class A eggs in packing stations lifted to 293 eurocents a kg in late February, holding prices above year earlier levels.

Prices are currently up by 16% on year earlier levels and 2% on the previous month.

Egg prices in the US have fallen below prices in Brazil and are currently trading at roughly 114 eurocents a kg, with US prices remaining incredibly volatile.

Laying hen placings in the EU finished 2025 on a high, with numbers lifting considerably to more than 15m birds in December, the highest level for some time.

French, Germany, and Spain are still the major players in EU egg production, each accounting for roughly 15% of total EU production respectively.
