No new cases of avian influenza in commercial or wild birds have been found for a fortnight, according to APHA’s latest report into cases.
According to OIE, elsewhere in Europe since 15 February, HPAI H5N8 has been reported in poultry in the Czech Republic (two cases), Finland (one case), Germany (three cases) and Ukraine (one case). HPAI H5N8 in wild birds has been reported in Austria (two cases), Germany (25 cases), Ireland (two cases), Latvia (three cases) and Sweden (one case).
This winter there have been 14 outbreaks of HPAI H5N8 in poultry confirmed on premises in England; one outbreak confirmed on a premises in Scotland; and one outbreak confirmed in Wales, and two in Northern Ireland.
The most recent case in the UK was confirmed on 11 February near Glenrothes, Scotland in a game bird rearing and breeding premises. A Protection Zone and Surveillance Zone have been put in place around the infected premises and surveillance is ongoing.
