Good demand for eggs continues reports NFU

Demand for eggs across all categories remains “good” according to the NFU’s latest poultry & egg business bulletin.

“The euro exchange rate must be playing some part in this, where both wholesalers and processors are concerned, as they find imported eggs being more expensive,” states the bulletin, adding that free range market growth appears to also be continuing with prices remaining firm, and even rising in some instances.

Colony eggs are also reported to have increased in price throughout the past month while the forecast for processing eggs is that prices look “set to rise again” through November as the supply backlog, which built up during the summer, has now been used up.
