Petersime has introduced HatchSound, a new sound monitoring technology designed to monitor embryo activity during the hatching process.
The company says the technology is the first of its kind to monitor sound in the hatcher. It uses sensitive microphones combined with an algorithm to detect sounds produced by embryos as they prepare to hatch.
HatchSound monitors the hatching cycle and identifies when it starts and finishes. The information is used by Petersime’s Synchro-Hatch technology to trigger changes in temperature and CO₂ at the appropriate stage of the hatch.
According to Petersime, this can result in a hatch window that is 40% shorter, helping to improve synchronisation during the hatching process.
The technology also enables hatchery operators to monitor and visualise the hatch window.
HatchSound is patent-pending and is available exclusively as an option on Petersime’s new UniStreamer hatchers.
Petersime said the technology is designed to provide hatchery operators with greater insight into what is happening during the hatching process by monitoring embryo sounds in real time.
The company introduced HatchSound as part of its latest developments in incubation technology, with the system designed to work alongside its existing Synchro-Hatch technology.
