UK to declare AI-free status on 3 September

The UK is preparing to declare itself free from avian influenza (AI) on 3 September, after APHA signed off the last infected premises in the country.

A 28 day countdown period is now underway, after which the UK will be able to declare its status via the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The UK suffered 26 cases of AI during the past year, one of the worst seasons in several years.
