Shell eggs imported from Ukraine have been recalled after Salmonella was detected in products supplied by a major Ukrainian egg producer.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a Food Alert for Action covering raw shell eggs from Yasensvit Ltd, Kyiv, stamped with the code 3UA1012066.
All affected eggs, regardless of pack size or best-before date, should be withdrawn from sale and recalled from consumers where sold at retail. The FSA has warned that other eggs carrying the same code may also be affected.
The alert, issued on 10 October, advises food businesses to check their supply chains and egg stamps, immediately stop using or selling affected eggs, and dispose of them safely. They must not be diverted for further processing.
The eggs are not sold through major supermarkets and are mainly used in the catering supply chain, although some may have reached smaller shops.
