Will Raw has been appointed as chair of the NFU’s national poultry board.
Will has served as the board’s vice-chair since March 2024 and will serve as chair for the remainder of this term.
He is a former participant of the NFU Poultry Industry Programme and operates a mixed farm in North Yorkshire comprising 250 acres of combinable crops alongside broiler production.
The change comes after James Mottershead took the difficult decision to stand down from all officeholder positions at the NFU to enable him to focus on his business.
Raw said: “James has served as NFU national poultry board chair since March 2022 and has been proud to lead the board through some of the most challenging times the poultry sector has faced. We have extended our thanks to James for his dedication during his time as an NFU officeholder and wish him well for the future.
“The challenges haven’t gone away. With avian influenza an ever-present threat and the ongoing focus on fairness in the supply chain, there are many different workstreams that we are involved with, representing the interests of our members.
“I’m committed to working with the board to help overcome these issues which will allow poultry businesses to be in the best possible position to thrive in the future.”
