Joice and Hill has announced that its sales director, Peter Cumbers, will retire at the end of the year, bringing to a close a distinguished career spanning several decades in the UK poultry industry.
Cumbers joined Joice and Hill in 2003 after beginning his career with Deans, before moving into a sales role with ISA Poultry Services in Peterborough. Following a brief period with Potters, he joined Joice and Hill, where he was appointed sales director in 2008.
During his time with the company, Cumbers has overseen significant growth in the business. Annual sales of day-old chicks have increased from around three million when he joined the company to 15 million in 2025, against the backdrop of considerable change within the UK egg sector.
Joice and Hill paid tribute to Peter’s contribution, thanking him for his dedication and leadership over the past two decades.
“Peter has played a pivotal role in the development of Joice and Hill and in establishing our layer breeds as recognised benchmarks in modern egg production. We thank him sincerely for his hard work, commitment and guidance over the years, and wish him a long, healthy and enjoyable retirement.”
