H5N5 highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in wild pheasants released into woodland in Worcestershire.
This follows two cases of H5N5 detected in wild birds in the Highlands and in Northumberland this week.
The pheasants are wild birds and so no zones will be declared and this will not impact on country freedom.
Gary Ford, chief executive of the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) said the news emphasised the importance of poultry farms practicing stringent biosecurity.
